Aim To Please
For the next 3 weeks, we are going to look at some "Daily Reminders", a few of the fundamental truths in the Bible that we tend to forget,or overlook in our lives. Each day (M-F) will be a new reminder. Our intent is that we can all continually and regularly look at these truths, and by them see our faith and foundation grow stronger and stronger as we live in obedience to Jesus and His word.
DAILY REMINDER #1 - "I Must Have Faith To Please God!"
Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please God..."
It's amazing to me that we, as Christians, attempt every day, and several times a day at that, to do the impossible...we try to PLEASE GOD without FAITH! In America, we have somehow managed to remove faith from our daily experience in our walk with God. We have managed to subscribe to the idea that, even though God saved us, He somehow needs our help in fixing this world. We tell others the "right" way to do things and make sure that people know just how "spiritual" we are. We do all of this based on a "knowledge" of right and wrong, instead of an intimacy with Him that produces trust in Him. This is a vain attempt to prove our righteousness before people, causing us to neglect the very thing that would grant us favor with them...putting our faith in God!
Hebrews 10:38 says, "But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." If we want to please God, and prove to be His righteous ones, we will need to live by faith. You can tell when someone is walking in faith because they are marked with peace and joy, because their hope and trust are founded on God, not on their ability to control situations and circumstances. The person who is continually stressed out and frustrated is the person who isn't living by faith.
Let's aim today to please God, and live by faith...trusting Him with every fiber of our beings!
